Description

The file contains a data set, which can be used to reproduce findings reported in the manuscript " Scaling exponents of turbulent static pressure structure function in the inertial subrange" by Katul et al. (2025).   Gabriel G. Katul, Aslan, Toprak, and Mika Aurela. " Scaling exponents of turbulent static pressure structure function in the inertial subrange." submitted to Geophysical Research Letters in January 2025.   The data set contains four self-explanatory files: 1    Katul_et_al_2025_data1.xlsx consists of the data to reproduce Figure 1, including (1) minutely measured and averaged pressure data from automatic weather station and BMP sensor, respectively, and (2) friction velocity, standard deviation of raw and filtered pressure data measured by BMP sensor and dissipation rate of horizontal (u) and vertical wind components (w) for 545 half-hourly period as described in Section 3 (Experiment). 2    Katul_et_al_2025_data2.xlsx consists of the data to reproduce Figure 2, including (1) measured structure functions for filtered pressure, longitudinal velocity, and vertical velocity as a function of separation distance r for 545 half-hourly period as described in Section 3 (Experiment), and (2) the empirical probability density functions (PDFs) of the scaling exponents of pressure, horizontal and vertical velocity. 3    Katul_et_al_2025_data3.xlsx consists of the data reproduce Figure 3, including the interaction between large and inertial subrange scales as a function of normalized separation distances for the filtered fluctuations of pressure, horizontal and vertical velocity for 545 half-hourly period as described in Section 3 (Experiment). 4    Katul_et_al_2025_data4.xlsx consists of the data to reproduce Figure 4, including (1) the relation between the scaling exponent c in Equation 15 and ρp′2,Δp′2 determined for r/z between 0.1 and 0.5 as in Figure 3, (2) the relation between the similarity constant C2 in Equation 15 and ρp′2,Δp′2 determined between r/z=0.1 and 0.5 in Figure 3, (3) the relation between S∗ and the exponents of Dss in the ISR for s = p, s = u, and s = w. The data covers 545 half-hourly period as described in Section 3 (Experiment).
