We simulate food webs of different size (number of species) and connectance (density of links between species) and simulate their dynamics. We first find dynamically stable food webs (using simulate_initial_foodwebs.jl). We then (using simulate_removals.jl) take each of those food webs, remove a species, and track the dynamics of the food web for a set number of time steps (set using the parameter 'stop'), recording the time at which any secondary extinctions occur. We return to the original, stable food web, and repeat the removal process for each species in the food web. We use the package BioEnergeticFoodWebs (https://github.com/PoisotLab/BioEnergeticFoodWebs.jl) to build and simulate the food webs.
