Description
This dataset comprises several NetCDF files containing processed meteorological, dust, and saltation data from the J-WADI field campaign used in Meyer et al. (2025). Data were collected from multiple instruments and processed into several products, including corrected and uncorrected mass concentrations from several instruments for selected time steps, optical to geometric diameter conversions, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements, and dust mass concentrations from combining size distributions from several instruments. Files and Contents:
J-WADI_uncorrected_mass_concentrations_single_instruments_15_min.nc: 15-min averaged uncorrected mass concentration PSDs for three time steps. Instruments include UCASS (A, B), SANTRI2 (2U, 4U), Welas (4m, 2m), CDA (4m) and Fidas (4m, 2m).
J-WADI_corrected_mass_concentrations_single_instruments_triaxial_15_min.nc:15-min averaged corrected mass concentration particle size distributions (PSDs) derived for triaxial ellipsoid particle assumptions for geometric diameters. Instruments include SANTRI2 (2U, 4U), Welas (4m, 2m), and Fidas (4m, 2m).
J-WADI_corrected_mass_concentrations_single_instruments_biaxial_15_min.nc: 15-min averaged corrected mass concentration PSD data derived for biaxial ellipsoid particle assumptions for geometric diameters. Instruments include SANTRI2 (2U, 4U), Welas (4m, 2m), and Fidas (4m, 2m).
conversion_optical_geometric_diameter_Fidas_Welas_CDA.nc: 15-min averaged optical to geometric diameter conversion for Fidas, Welas, and CDA instruments.J-WADI_SEM_size_distributions.nc: particle size distributions collected by a flate-plate sampler and analyzed by SEM converted to geometric diameters.
J-WADI_meteorology_dust_mass_concentrations_15min.nc: 15‑minute averaged meteorological data (pressure, temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, friction velocity, and stability) and dust mass concentration measurements from combining corrected aerosol spectrometer measurements for biaxial ellipsoid particle assumptions for geometric diameters (SANTRI2 (2U, 4U), Welas (4m, 2m), and Fidas (4m, 2m).).
J-WADI_SANTRI_flux_den_15min.nc: 15-min averaged height-dependent (5 cm, 15 cm, 30 cm) saltation fluxes from SANTRI measurements.
